SLOAN-DODSON is the lifestyle photography studio of freelance photographers Barry Sloan and Patrick Dodson. With a decade of experience in the photojournalism world, SLOAN-DODSON is ready to capture your special event with a creative and unique story-telling vision.
BARRY SLOAN – Barry currently resides on Long Island where he spends much of his time working on a wide range of assignments for his hometown daily newspaper, Newsday. He earned a degree in journalism with a concentration in visual and digital media from the University at Albany, where he and Patrick first met as fellow photographers contributing to the school’s yearbook. Barry went on to apply his skillset as a staff photographer for The Daily Gazette, a daily newspaper based in New York’s Capital Region. It was here where he honed his craft, covering breaking news, college sports, Saratoga Race Course, and a presidential visit to Schenectady. With years of news photography under his belt, Barry enjoys lending his candid eye to couples looking for a creative and unobtrusive wedding photography experience. In his spare time, Barry enjoys live music, snowboarding, and traveling the world with his wife Sam.
PATRICK DODSON – A Connecticut native, Patrick has lived in Brooklyn for the last two years, where he served as the house photographer for a major arena and professional sports team. He earned journalism and art degrees from the University at Albany where he was active in the student newspaper, radio station, and yearbook. He later went on to work as a staff photographer for The Daily Gazette newspaper covering the Capital Region of New York for five years. He earned a spot at the prestigious merit-based Eddie Adams Workshop in 2012 and has earned Associated Press awards for his news, sports, and portrait photography, which have been published in newspapers and magazines across the globe. In his free time Patrick is obsessed with all things music, escaping for a hike, or staying in and spending time with his cat Pancake.
